Royal Rose – Weekly Feature #409

Victoria 1884 high value 5sh. typographed with Watermark #31.  Scott calls the colour of this stamp carmine rose, wheras Stanley Gibbons calls it rose and distinguishes it from a darker shade which it refers to as crimson.   Mint hinged with fresh, deep colour.  In Stanley Gibbons it goes by catalogue #180 with a value of £950.  Incidentally the crimson shade of this stamp in Stanley Gibbons catalogues £100 less.  We offer this Royal Rose at $750.
