In 1979 as the Cultural Revolution was winding down in China a set of 6 was issued extolling the virtue of studying science from early childhood. The designs featured children happily pursuing scientific adventures with microscopes etc. At the same time a souvenir sheet was issued which is quite distinct from other Chinese souvenir sheets because of it's colourful imagery. It is popular and scarce and now lists at more than Canadian $1000 in the Scott catalogue. This was one of about 10 better China souvenir sheets which we recently purchased. The sheet is fresh, very fine, never hinged.
