Weekly Feature #307 For the week of December 16th - December 23rd, 2006
PUZZLING PERFORATIONS Regular readers of our weekly features are aware how frequently we write up an item which is unrecorded on the standard catalogues. This week we feature a pair of Twenty cent Postal Note stamps which feature what any owner would like to believe is an unrecorded imperforate between error. There are two possibilities. This pair might be from a sheet that had a dramatic misperforation of one row resulting in perforations above this pair separating the stamps above it in half after which someone used scissors to make an imperforate top. Equally likely is that the sheet these came from were perforated to produce two rows of stamps with ten pairs of imperforate between stamps. If the latter were the case then an undamaged pair would likely have a catalogue value of between $500 (FPS6a $500) and $1750 (FPS7c $1750). Both are vertical pairs, imperforate between. To my knowledge the Twenty cent imperforate between has never been reported. So, what we are offering is certainly scarcer the FPS7c ($1750), but unfortunately, someone with a pair of scissors has significantly reduced the value of this pair.
